Child Development Co-Savings (Baby Bonus) Scheme

Welcome to the Baby Bonus Online, a portal for parents to join the Baby Bonus Scheme and open a Child Development Account (CDA) with greater convenience.

Baby Bonus Scheme

Children bring joy to the family. To support couples in their decision to have more children, the Baby Bonus Scheme helps to lighten the financial costs of raising children. The scheme is part of the Marriage and Parenthood Package and was recently enhanced to better defray child-raising costs as announced in the National Day Rally 2015 and Budget 2016. The scheme includes a cash gift, CDA First Step grant and Government matching to savings in the child’s CDA.

You can check if your child is eligible for the Baby Bonus cash gift and/or CDA benefits by using the Eligibility Check Tool on Baby Bonus Online.

For more information on the enhancements made to the Baby Bonus Scheme, please visit MSF website.

Joining the Scheme

You can submit the online form for your child to join the Scheme as early as 2 months before their estimated delivery date. Please click here for the form.

Cash Gift

You can expect to receive the cash gift within 7 to 10 working days of your child’s birth registration, or after completing the online form, whichever is later. You can use the cash gifts to pay for your newborn child’s expenses.

CDA

You can expect your child’s CDA to be opened within 3 to 5 working days of their birth registration, or after completing the online form, whichever is later. Singaporean parents do not need to make a trip to the bank to open a CDA.

The CDA is a special savings account. You can open a CDA with DBS Bank, OCBC or UOB. You will have up to 12 years to save in your child’s CDA. The Government will match your savings in the CDA within 2 weeks. Babies born from 24 Mar 2016 will receive up to $3,000 of CDA First Step grant. You can also refer to our FAQ section for more information regarding the CDA First Step grant.

You can use the savings in the CDA to pay for educational and healthcare expenses of all your children at the following Baby Bonus Approved Institutions (AIs):

    i)     Child Care Centres

    ii)    Kindergartens

    iii)   Special education schools

Government-Paid Leave Schemes (GPLS)

The Government-Paid Leave Schemes (e.g. Maternity Leave, Paternity Leave, Childcare Leave) under the Marriage and Parenthood (M&P) package aim to foster a pro-family environment in Singapore. These leave schemes support parents in managing their work and family responsibilities. Self-employed parents and employers can claim for reimbursements via the GPL portal.
